Foreign Language For All Ages
When a Florida teacher had a restless class, she let them talk as much as they could during class, until they spoke English. A simple "No ingles!" was all they needed to go back to speaking only Spanish the rest of the day. Schools are trying to push for starting children to learn things such as a foreign language at younger ages because they are more willing and have more of a drive behind them. It has also been proven that those who start it at such a young age delevelop more of a natural native-sounding pronunciation and have better grammar skills, along with many other benefits. While some teachers are trying to fight for support of these subjects at schools, most people still look towards improving math and reading scores first. Maria Schemel a kindergarten teacher had a good way of stating a positive push for foreign language as she said,"We need a lifelong commitment to language. If we started math in eighth grade, we wouldn't be great at math, either."
