Serial Killer to be Kept Behind Bars
On Wednesday, Nov. 18, in Pontiac, Michigan, serial killer Coral Eugene Watts was convicted of stabbing Helen Dutcher to death in 1979. Watts receive immunity from 11 other murders in Texas and Michigan, due to a plea bargain. He had received 60-year sentence, which was reduced 35 years due to release laws. Watts was due for release in 2006. In order to keep him behind bars, police reopened Dutcher's case with the only evidence being one eye witness. In court the witness was questioned on how he could remember facts for over 25 years. Another testimony was from a former Texas victim whose throat was slashed by Watts. Watts was said to murder women who had "evil eyes," and stated that if he was released from jail he would kill again. Needless to say, the victims' families were overjoyed to see Watts receive a life sentence without parole.
