Student Records Left Out On Street
Chancellor Joel J. Klein of the Intermediate School 174 in the Bronx apologizies for the mishandling of over 1,00 student records. The Daily News was notified that eleven boxes containing the medical and psychological records of over 1,000 students dating back to 1987 were sitting out on the street on East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx. These records were of students who were home-schooled due to illnesses and received instructions from the Intermediate School 174. Federal Laws require that information such as these private records are to be kept confidential or destoyed. Klein apologized and assured parents no such act would be committed again.
