New Republican Party House Rule

Texas Representative Henry Bonilla proposed a change in the party rules which will benefit the House majority leader, Tom DeLay. Prior to the new rule, members of the Hosue were required to step aside from their position when facing felony indictment. The new rule allows House party leaders to discuss for thirty days whether the Representative should step aside at least temporarily. DeLay is currently facing felony charges in Texas, but will now be able to retain his position while the investigations continue.
