Two Chinese Crime Groups Put Under the U.S. Microscope

For the past two years, United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an arm of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, has been investigating two Chinese crime groups based in New York City. Lim Shang and Wang Shao, the supposed leaders of the group, along with 49 other accomplices have been indicted. Standing charges include human smuggling, extortion, attempted murder, conspiracy to take hostages, money laundering, and operation of a large illegal gambling group. Defendants could face up to 20 years in jail and some even $11 million forfeitures if found guilty.
