U.S. Orders Airlines To Release Fliers' Data
The Transportation Security Administration, also known as the TSA, recently proposed a new computer-assisted screening system called Secure Flight. If implemented, this system would attempt to increase flight safety by verifying the identity of commercial flight passengers and comparing their reservation information with a list of alleged terrorists. As a result of this proposal, the federal government wants the nation’s airlines to submit all of their domestic passenger records from the month June, by mid-November, so that the TSA can begin testing Secure Flight. However, airlines and privacy-rights groups are concerned about passengers’ privacy.
