Injuries Are Deadlier For Obese People, Study Says

About 19 percent of the U.S. population is obese, and it's causing almost a six-fold increase in mortality rates. Why is this? Because the excess fat that surrounds the organs makes surgeries more difficult. Obese people who are critically hurt tend to die more often than those who are thin because their overall health is poor, thus surgery is riskier. Some main problems with obesity is that it reduces the lung capacity and it causes heart problems that can worsen the outcome of an injury. So, if your thinking of eating that extra brownie, think again. Your life may depend on your eating habits.
