After Long Hiatus, Iraqi Airways Back in Skies
The Boeing 737 was the first plane to depart from the Baghdad International Airport since it began operating again after a 14-year interim caused by war and sanctions. The plane was traveling from Baghdad to Amman, Jordan. It carried no passengers because Iraqi Airways is nearly bankrupt, and therefore is not publicizing its return to the skies. The airline is currently attempting to increase its routes by negotiating the lease of additional aircraft. Presently, Iraqi Airways only has two employed pilots.
