Rape investigation exhumes alleged victim

In an area of north-central Kenya, which officers of the British army have used as a training ground for over thirty years, locals claim that British soldiers have raped hundreds of women from the Maasai and Samburu tribes over the years. Recently authorities issued a woman's remains be exhumed, due to the request of Kenyan police, as part of an investigation into these allegations. The woman was supposedly raped and killed nine years ago. In an attempt to prove or diprove these claims authorities took samples from her remains for further study. This is all part of a law suit against the British government for the alleged rape by army personel of hundreds of Kenyan women. With the help of human rights workers, a British law firm representing the women, has accepted 1,100 of these claims as genuine. British military police have also interviewed over 2,000 women trying to verify their claims.
