Fourth Generation of Drug Traffickers has Emerged in Columbia

Generations of drug traffickers have all used different styles of transporting and selling their illegal substances. Now the fourth generations style has been pinned down. The first generation smuggled tons of marijuana from the Columbian mountains to the United States. The second generation introduced cocaine and was headed by one main kingpin named Escobar. This generation used bloody assassinations and bombings to avoid punishment. The third generation was run by the Cali cartel and tried to turn politicians with bribes and blackmail to avoid justice, but the were still well-known and didn't try to hide. Now the fourth generation is trying to be invisible. There is no kingpin, there are more separate groups that have set up large cocaine factories in the jungles of Columbia. Instead of trying to smuggle the drugs from Mexico to the United States they wait for Mexican traffickers to come to them and then worry about trafficking the goods. These groups will be harder to track because there is not one main kingpin to look for and the groups are not out looking for business.
