Another result of Katrina: scams

Just before Hurricane Katrina pounded the coast, websites began popping up across the Internet claiming to be part of a relief effort. Although many sites are legitimate, scammers nation-wide took this as an opportunity to play upon American's generosity in a time of need. These fraudulent sites claim to be using the money for Hurricane Katrina victims, when the scammers are simply looking to steal credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security numbers, and other personal information.
