Heart Disease and Steroids
A study was performed to see if there is a link between using steroids and having heart disease. Steroids are used for many medical conditions like arthritis and asthma, but by taking these steroids, one may be at an increased risk for heart disease. A study found that people taking low doses of steroids have the same risk for heart disease as people not taking any steroids. People taking large doses of steroids have a much higher risk of getting heart diseases such as heart attacks, heart failures, or strokes. Therefore, this study shows that low doses of steroids are okay, but higher doses can lead to further medical problems.
