Federal Prosecutors Getting Buyout

A few months ago early retirement incentives were offered to justice department employees who were at least 50 and had a minimum of 20 years of government experience. Those not old enough to retire received a buyout and the ones of retirement age received up to $25,000 as a bonus. About 95 federal prosecutors nationwide are accepting this offer. The plan was intended to persuade about 600 people to retire in order to make room for those with more computer experience. However, by doing this, the department will be losing those workers who have 20 to 30 years of experience in that field.
