Muslims and Terrorism

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shaukat Aziz, shared his viewpoints on Muslim extremist terrorism in this article. He acknowledges that terrorism is a threat to all society, including those of Muslims, and also acknowledges that it is internal conflicts among Muslims that create this threat. In his mind, Israel has begun to take steps in the right direction by evacuating Gaza, but still has a little ways to go to ensure peace. He also talks about ways in which Muslim societies can be improved to further decrease terrorism, including increased education and further societal development. All in all, he is optomistic that terrorism in the Middle East can be overcome.

I would like to believe what Aziz claims is possible, but I'm afraid that all the readings of news stories about the issue of terrorism in the Middle East has made me rather cynical, and I just don't know anymore if I believe that terrorism can ever stop.
