The Broken Rules of War
It has been discovered that the rules of war, specifically the rules protecting civilians and the wounded has been broken on both sides of the fighting (Iraqi and United States). Flags of truce are not being acknowledged either. Most of the violation is speculated to be on the United States side. Some of those accusations include: a woman and her three daughters being killed when their house was bombed; 20 Iraqi medical staff along with dozens of civilians were killed when a missile hit a Falluja medical clinic; a nine-year-old boy bled to death after being hit with shrapnel while the fighting continued; an American soldier supposedly fired a shot in the direction of a wounded enemy behind a wall and then commenting "he's gone.'' However, in one incident, some Iraqis were reported to have come out of a building waving a white flag. But when a group of Marines approached this group, the enemy opened fire on the Marines from all different directions. Some Iraqi groups are even being accused of storing weapons in schools. Either way, it seems to me that both sides are in the wrong if these accusations turn out true.
