Castro Breaks Knee, Arm in Fall
Fidel Castro, the president of Cuba, broke his left knee and right arm after a fall Wednesday in the city of Santa Clara. After giving a graduation speech, the Cuban leader of 45 years missed a step when walking off the stage. Shortly after the fall, Castro took the microphone and assured the audience that he was ok. He was then taken to a hospital, where he said he would probably get a cast. The health of the 78-year-old president has been under speculation during the past few years because he has often appeared tired or thin on camera. The government of Cuba maintains that the president's health is a state secret and will not discuss it. The Bush admistration has used this incident to reiterate it's desire for Castro to be removed from power. State department spokesman Richard Boucher says that the Cuban people "deserve democracy".
